●Nathan Shiga: August 31
Now, do me a favor – don’t quiz me when I say “Vegetable Rice Sushi”. I do mean what I say – “Vegetable Rice” Sushi or Sushi with vegetable instead of the rice ball to top a slice of tuna on. You agree that Sushi fans love Sushi just as much for the deliciously vinegar-flavored rice ball as a variety of toppings to ornament it. But, why riceless?
“Vegetable Rice” Sushi is a new entry in the world of Sushi that is about to replace the rice ball with a handful of sliced radish – what for? What else for? Just for the sake of a good figure, of course. It so frequently happens at conveyor Sushi houses that young female Sushi fans pick up only the toppings and let go the rice balls – for fear of consuming excessive carbohydrate!
A conveyor Sushi house “KuraZushi” thought it wasteful to dump the rice balls away and decided to introduce, effective August 31, a new menu “Vegetable Rice” featuring vinegar-pickled sliced radish in place of the vinegar-flavored rice ball.
KuraSushi says the Riceless Sushi is 88% off in carbohydrate content as compared with the standard Nigiri Sushi with the rice ball. There are four toppings: tuna, shrimp, etc. to choose from.
Well, no harm in eating tuna with radish. I couldn’t care less who eats what. But do me a favor – don’t take my favorite Nigiri Sushi away from me.
